War...What is it good for?

by Bradley Peter   Jul 29, 2006

Sights and sounds to boggle the mind
hiding things somewhere that you can't find
but deep inside they haunt your dreams
the blood, sweat, tears and dying screams

unhealed scars left deep beneath the skin
releasing the demons left deep within
demons you ran from, but never escaped
demons that remind you of being gagged and taped

a once beautiful life now a world of mess
with an incomplete soul and ongoing stress
never to know true happiness again
but instead a world revolved around pain

I love da poem, 4rm da title i thought it wos gna be a different kind ov poem so I wos surprised wen I actually read it. I lyk da fact dat it deals with the psychological effects of war rather than the obvious destruction death etc. and moral message poems on the subject of war.
I also really liked da fact dat its uncertain for me whether its a victim of war as in a civillian or a soldier dealing with the after effects cos if you read it from both perspectives the poem takes on different meanings, I think this is one of my favourite ov ur recent poens, without a doubt.
Lots and lots and lots of Love,
