Mist O'er Tea

by Ed or Ian Henderson   Jul 31, 2006

(My apologies: there should be a category for forbidden love. But there isn't. Still... "Lay on, McDuff."

There was no passion, but for our addictions,
Yet the ferocity in your eyes belied this.
With you in my arms I ruled over Eden,
I was Adam.
We clamoured for inattentive affections,
In times of narcotic-laced bliss,
These moments we knew to need them.
But didn't have 'em.

Pretty thing I wish we were of some other age,
You danced as temptation's luscious snake,
There to coil around the fractious end,
You were Eve.
Mirrored, tempering identical needful rage,
We are death to our hearts in our time awake,
In sleep my mind doesn't seem to send,
Any reprieve.

This was provocative and lovely - full of lust and also seemed to be about an old friend... it was very beautiful to read.

*haha - sorry just read Azyo's comment... about wearing a condom... haha

Good poem. Thanks for the read. :)

I would so read a book filled with poems like this one. Your word choice is flawless. My favorite part was the first two lines. I am now looking forward to reading more of your work.
