My newfound love

I've been told "I love you"
So many times
Sometimes it was kind of true
But most of those times were lies

I told you all about
How those relationships went wrong
Sometimes I just wanted to break down
But you helped me get along

Walking with you one day
About to tell you something new
I looked into your gorgeous eyes
And i saw inside of you

I saw a man who cares
Someone wise, but strong
A person who understands
Who helps you right your wrongs

For a while I kept it hidden
About my newfound love
And how you made my heart sing dolefully
Like a morning dove

Eventually, i expressed to you
My new compassionate devotion
But when i said that, it induced
The most horrible commotion

You became uneasy and told me
About that one girl you like, for fact
The one who you already dated,
But doesnt like you back

But then you told me that
We were wonderful friends
And that you hoped my newfound feelings
Wouldn't make that friendship end

Now i can say
i almost definately know
that we'll probably never date
but i can still hope, though
