Outcast

by Sarah Hutt   Aug 1, 2006

Stuck out in the cold,
away from those who might care.
alone.
thunderous mighty clouds overhead,
chilly wet, wet rain cascading down her face.
staring into the room,
the fire is alight,
the family is toasting marshmallows all smiling and joyful.
they do not know what it is like to be stuck on the outside.
staring in, with a hand on the glass.
soaked, cold always alone.

what would that family say?
what would they do?
their daughter is out there.
but they do not want to know.
an outcast.
no family.
an outcast, alone, scared...

a single tear rolls down her white, pale cheek.
she tears her gaze away,
that family is not hers.
that young girl turns and walks away.
she is lost to the cold harsh world.
still an outcast.
gone.
