I've closed my eyes to memorize
The way you feel next to me
Walking down a deserted road
And we reach the end of a dream
Knowing your there beside me
Encourages me to walk on
Feeling your hand inside of mine
Tells me i'm not alone
Hearing your breathing steadily
the road becomes a little rough
You stand by my side always
Just like you can't get enough
Things never stay the same
That you know is true
But you are aware of one thing
I will always love you
Walking to the end of that road
We've grown a little bit older
Both leaning on each other
Our hands on each other's shoulders
You smile that smile i've always known
And gently squeeze my hand
I thank the good lord above me
He blessed me with such a man
The angels descend and take our hands
To that heavenly land somewhere
Both together in this world
Our time we've had to share
But no other person could i have loved any better
Than the man holding my hand
Proudly i fly with the angels
And in Heaven i take my stand
this may not be the best poem i've written but it's dedicated to my great grandpa and great grandma. . .my grandpa is on his death bed and my grandma has never left his side....they have been together ever since they were sixteen years old and i know that when they both leave this world, they will be rejoined in Heaven.
