My Prayers Are Finally Answered

I prayed for you last night,
that you\'d be safely sleeping through the night.
I prayed you\'d be protected,
& hoped the nightmares would be afar.

My mind wondering,
& hoping it worked.
I watched you all night,
you shivered & screamed.

I comforted you,
Baby, it\'s only a dream.
You smiled,
but my prays weren\'t answered.

I stayed awake,
watching & waiting.
I wished I could help,
as I cuddled close.

As dawn awaken you,
I couldn\'t help you.
I felt hopeless weaken by your pain,
as the shadow filled my head.

My heart grew sadden with the pain,
in your eyes the stars were missing.
I stared at that picture of us smiling,
for hours.

But all I did was cry myself to sleep,
waiting for your touch.
Yet, no one came,
as I was awaken by a bloody murder scream.

I looked,
cuddled behind me.
You laid there helplessly
& shivered.

I touched your face,
& you were as cold as death.
Baby, it\'s only a dream,
I promise.

You slowly fell back asleep,
& I watched all night.
My prays were finally answered,
& the nightmares afar.
