Family New Year's Eve Celebration

by Connie   Aug 3, 2006

When growing up my parents showed us
How to bring in the New Year with fun!
We'd eat a lot and play games together, while...
Waiting and watching for the big ball on TV to drop!

With a box of noisemakers ~ the five of us kids would get ready
When the clock struck midnight ~ out the door we all flew!
"Happy New Year!" we'd shout to the entire neighborhood
Sometimes we'd hear from another street, "Happy New Year To You!"

This family tradition lived on for many many years
Including our spouses and then through the grandkids.
In my heart and in my mind on every New Year's Eve
I still see my family bringing in the New Year noisy and happily!
