Time for tea

Step inside my parlor
Said the spider to the fly
I have a little something
That I'm sure you'd like to try

Dainty little sandwiches
Pastries small and neat
Tea served with a saucer
All at a table neat

Come now friend there's lots to share
There's no need to turn back
Come inside and sit right down
I'm sure you'd like a snack

And so the two sat down to tea
It really was a sight
the fly was eating merrily
Whilst spider grinned with spite.

Soon though fly began to yawn
Tried to beg his leave
Spider smiled a secret smile
She had something up her sleeve

Come friend rest awhile here
I have a place to lay your head
Why not have a little nap
Upon the softest bed?

So tired was fly he lay straight down
And drifted off to sleep
Smiling spider surveyed the scene
Then softly did she creep

With silken thread she began her work
No spoken word or sound
Rapidly she covered fly
Wrapping round and round

Oh fly, sighed spider softly
If only you had known
That I would have YOU for my tea
You surely would have flown.
