The Promise

by Larissa   Aug 6, 2006

You said you'd never leave me,
That you'd always be by my side,
But now you've gone and left me,
I feel like I could've died.

I though you'd be different,
And I thought that until today.
But now I know the truth,
You just came to me to play.

You never really cared,
You just acted to fool me,
Now you're with another girl,
And I'm supposed to be happy- to be 'free'.

You said you'd always love me,
And you'd come back if things got bad,
You said you'd always care for me,
That I was the best you'd ever had.

I just wanted to let you know,
You'll never know quite how I feel,
But I do want you to know,
I'm the one who got the better deal.

I don't have to worry
About what you're doing or where you're at,
I don't have to listen to you
calling me ugly, dumb, or fat.

I can always flirt with whom ever,
And not care what you think at all,
I can party with the girls (or guys),
And not worry about missing you're call.

I guess I'm saying thank you,
I'll miss you and good-bye,
I just wish you'd have told the truth,
You really didn't have to lie.

You think you are the smart one,
You think you cheated and got away,
I just wanted to tell you,
You aren't the only one who came to play.
