Spinning Reels

by Paggles   Aug 6, 2006

Sacred memories kept in store
to never die and fade
While pleasures plenty and galore
wait just beneath the shade

Pause, fast-forward, stop, rewind
my dreams of yesterday
Digital dolby springs to mind
for instant matinee

Cut and spliced some edited twice
while tears fall to the floor
swept into my storage device
I quickly slam the door

With random access memory
exceeding exabytes.
I mindful piece the imagery
preserving joyous sights

Time goes by while I do play
best clips until they're worn
Still scripting more for each new day
Still sweeping' way the torn

Then suddenly, reality
theatrics start to blur
I can't remember where I put
the golden clips that were

While even though it's hard to do
I know that it's now time
to open up the cutting room
take stock, discard the grime

This can't be done without review
of pieces shoved aside
Surveying reels some old some new
Deleting joy denied

My goal today, to free some space
discarding clips not used
But learn from sorrows and mistakes
Events that I've abused

Restored anew, the spinning reels
displaying vivid past
Projecting old with new ideals
my hard drive free at last
