Saving You

by Unbreakable   Aug 7, 2006

Don't you love the feeling,

Of starting something new?

Like the beginning of every morning,

With it's misty morning dew.

Nothing beats a fresh start,

With no looking back.

However of all my flaws,

Forgetting is what i seem to lack.

Scars are forever.

However they're not on me.

They're in the faces of my past,

Faces I'll forever see.

The last thing I want,

Is to add your face to the list.

To toy with your head and heart,

Only to have you dismissed.

I know my ways,

And I know how I do.

I'll keep you around,

Til there's no use for you.

You deserve more

Than to wait around for,

For a girl who lives in her past,

A girl whose always unsure.

I'd like to think I've changed.

And believe I closed those doors.

But that's too big of a risk,

So I'll break my heart, and save yours.

Wow this is so raw and honest, and although I don't usually like rhyme, in this case it is quiet effective. I liked how it started off positive but then crashed down to reality, so to speak. Your language is simple but it is sincere and really makes the reader feel what you are feeling. Nice work.
