Hero in the sky

In the shadows of a girl
You see a glisten in her eye
What most see as her father
A true hero in the sky

For as long as she lives
Her father will be near
Maybe not in person
But in memories held so dear

Tears may spark her
Still with that glisten in her eye
She prays to the Lord
Simply asking why

A question, that can't be answered
Only living with such proof that,
the girls father died for her
Leaving her crying over the truth...

That a father is missing out
On his daughters future years
Living a tick at a time
Just wishing he was here

*To Brielle, I love you and your dad is still a hero in everyones hearts for being so brave on 9/11/01. ♥

    AWW! I know EXACTLY how you feel! My friends' dad died not too long ago too! =( It was horrible to attend the funeral...

    Anyways...I thought this poem was really good! The flow was excellent, and it had great meaning. =) 5/5 xoxo

    Julie, this is a sweet poem and I bet your friend loves this. her dad sounds like a great man. this poem is one of your best and I arelly liked this stanza:
