Confessions of a Traveler

by SomeDaysDreamer   Aug 9, 2006

Turn off the lights
I need to
Look for what I lost
Left it
Somewhere
Thousands of miles away
From here
I came back
Changed
I think I'll disappoint you
My love-no-longer
Four hundred photos
I'm growing my hair long
He said it would be pretty
Long
Still me
But home now
Sad to say
Not missing you
Missing him
I miss that place
I miss being so far away
Such a
Different person
You called me
Your beautiful girl
He just called me beautiful
And yet
There's no comparison
For some reason
You've given me
Countless
Roses that have all
Died in a few days
Sweet gestures
He gave to me
A purple beaded bracelet
That means the world to me now
You never
Put me on the side
Farthest from the street
While we were walking
You never
Thought of that
One more night in the emerald city
The rain came hard that night
It became hard to differentiate
Between rainstorms and tsunamis
He tucked me away
Safe and dry
His arm warm around my shoulder
You're a musician
But he has piano hands
And swimmers arms
He made time
Even though I've known him
For all of 18 days
When there was nowhere to go
Stranded in the mountains
He showed me the stars
So you're 'sensitive'
You think you feel this weight
Harbor all these deep philosophical
Thoughts
You would look down
From underneath him
Because he's not 'composed'
And makes jokes
That don't involve crescendos
Because you think he doesn't compare
To you
When you don't compare
To him
You think he's 'not as good'
Yet
I asked him of his dreams;
He told me he's going to buy a sailboat
I could have cried
Somehow
So if you could please
Kill those lights
I can't see the sky
I told you I would go back
You said, what about you
I didn't answer
So now
I have thought and I say this:
There are ten million more stars
Half way across the world

You have some amazing feeling and expression in that poem! I hope that was a true story and that you are still in contact with him. It sounds like you love him, don't let it go.
