Ashes to Ashes

I lay here drenching my pillow with tears of loneliness and pain
Searching for the right words to say to bring you back to me again
I constantly inhale the deadly smoke of my past
And watch as my whole world just burns to ashes

Shaking uncontrollably as I choke back unshed tears
I just pray to God you will here my silent pleas
The walls of life are closing in and my mind is blank
You were my everything, my hopes, dreams and fears

I've removed your picture only to discover a gaping hole in my heart
I try helplessly to mend the shattered life that you left behind
I'm numb to everything except my increasing pain
And even that somehow comes and goes

I've lost you once again to the selfishness of my heart
And this time I know, you are truly gone forever
But you'll always be in my heart, my one and only
And I'll love you forever from ashes to ashes, and dust to dust

    Pray to God you will HEAR (not here)

    Other than that, I like it. And I like how it's not tied to any style of writing or rhyming scheme, it just flows on its own from the heart.

    Wow that was really good. definitely good imagery and wonderful job getting across your emotions... i felt the pain and anger, i'm so sry for everything, but this really was a great poem... definite 5/5 keep up the good work
