Mesquite Beans

What is the purpose
If purpose be
Of the beans
On a Texas mesquite tree
They sway in the wind
They are not very edible
Their position on earth
Is less than credible
They do nothing nice
Like produce a flower
More meaningless beans
Fall by the hour
They spread cross the ground
Long bumpy and tan
Loitering around the trees
Boring motionless and bland
If a purpose is known
Could someone tell me
