This is a sad poem, it really sounds bittersweet. I particulary liked the lines 'I cried into the safe darkness
longing to hold you near.' Because they are quite universal - who hasn't kept their tears for midnight when no one else can see? I also liked the general tone in this and how personal it is. I'd suggest working on the rhythm a bit so that it flows more and the rhymes 'fit.' Apart from that minor suggestion this was an interesting read. Well done :)
