Thank you Soliders

Each day I sit in class,
Time never seems to go by fast.
Each year I move up to the next grade
And I wonder if this will ever fade.
To live my life with no fears
Of a dictator choosing my career.
To have to follow his every order
Or you may not live to be another day older.

Today U.S. soldier's are fighting in Iraq,
And I know they got my back.
I don't know them and they don't know me.
All I know is that their fighting so I could be free.
People I don't even know
Are dying for me.
They die for not only me,
But for everybody else to be free.

I know this world is not perfect for sure,
And the hearts are not always pure.
Men and Women go out to fight a war
Because the country's still worth fighting for.
Giving us the freedom to reach for the stars,
Because you know they aren't that far.

If you ask yourself why are you here
Because it may not be clear.
Just think of all the lives you will save,
Because you were so brave.
Just think of the smiles
You will receive when you come back all those miles.

I don't know you
This much is true.
Everyday I pray
That you will come home one day.
Safe and sound
To U.S. ground.

One thing I have to do
Is thank you.
For protecting everyone
That is under the sun.
The people in the U.S. at least
And innocent lives in the Middle East.

There is still more good.
Some is just misunderstood.
More good then bad.
For that I am glad.
Just remember it
When you want to quit.
