Left in the Cold

by Natalie   Aug 12, 2006

Left in the cold
Outside is a tree
Not young
But old

Lost its leaves
To the season
Lost its beauty
To the chill

Tiny leaves stay
Orange, red, yellow
Made up of twigs
That look like thick hay

Left out in the cold
Outside is a tree
That is more dependable than
You or me

Waiting to be beautiful
Now it is dead
Going to sleep
In its dirt bed.
