Slowly Slipping Away.

Slowly Slipping Away:

Each day that passes,
just another day counting down.
The body grows old and slow;
slowly slipping away.

My eyes grow tired and
my sight grows dim.
I can see, but not as I used to;
slowly slipping away.

The mind is young and willing still,
but the body grows frail and weak
with so many aches and pains;
slowly slipping away.

You have said that one
should be young at heart,
there are things now taken;
slowly slipping away.

All these pills, vitamins and
tablets, replacing the food I once ate.
My gums are numb and my teeth are all weak;
slowly slipping away.

The only thing that I know
that will be evergreen is the
love that I hold for you in this heart;
for it will never slip away.

    I found this piece remarkably tantalising... Each stanza portrayed a lonesome kind of feel mingled with the sadness of "getting old". With the final stanza blazed and incredibly powerful emotion. A truly beautiful ending to a wonderfully sculpted poem.
