The Sweetest Thing

by Weeping Wolf   Aug 15, 2006

I will be the sweetest thing under the sun
I will love a thousand people and not hurt one
I will be the sweetest thing under the moon
I will sing with birds and make them swoon

I am loved
in despair
this heart
needs care
i belong
in a sad song...

I was born
in a tragic place
i was shone
your eyes and saw
my own pain...

I will be the sweetest thing under the sun
I will love a thousand people and not hurt one
I will be the sweetest thing under the moon
I will sing with birds and make them swoon

With animal eyes
and a suitcase heart
i say my goodbyes
on a horse-drawn cart

a face, old and worn
a lie, cold and torn.
but no matter how hurt i am...
I still sing. i live on.

because i will be the purest thing under the sun
because i have a heart to love a thousand people,
and not...hurt...a single...one.

This is beautifully written.I love the repeat of certain stanzas. And your use of images, like 'a suitcase heart' are so unique and fantastic. This is a very touching, moving poem and reveals both the sadness and all the love in your heart.Excellent.
