There Is No Happy Ending...

Why it everything be like the stories
A happily ending fairy tale
Like the princess who's saved by her shining knight
Or that wooden boy who was rescued from the whale

Why can't I have a tale so joyful
That these tears would not exist
I've tried so hard to find it in life
But only came out with scars on my wrist

My story started out as a fairytale
A wicked step-mom and an uncaring dad
My brother and I had to do everything
Only to be punished for being "bad"

We told each other it'd be ok
And that we'd make it through
We tried our best to please our mom
We said everyday "I love you"

But I guess that didn't matter
Cuz this is all our fault
Our mom is threatening our dad with divorce
Cuz we didn't respect her as an adult

Our dad said we were selfish
And that we could've done our part
But dad she's lying we did nothing wrong
You're causing a break in OUR hearts

Why didn't we get a fairy tale ending?
God, can you tell me why?
Why can't my brother and I be happy?
Rather than wanting to die

That razor is calling so loudly to me
A smile isn't even worth pretending
We gave up today God, there is no hope
We don't believe in happy endings..
