Living

by Kimberly   Aug 16, 2006

I have been wounded yeah,
I have been hurt
Been looked over
Treated like dirt.

I have felt naive
I have felt betrayed
Instead of fleeing lust
I sometimes stayed.

Been taken for granted
Played for a fool
I have been fed a line
Used as a tool.

Been kicked in the teeth
And did not fight back
I have stood my ground
Walked away from the pack.

I have been mocked
And I have been scorned
I have felt despair
Wished I had never been born.

I have been jealous
And I have been mad
Cause I did not have
What someone else had.

I have been blind
And I have been deaf
Looked truth in the face
Turned my back and left.

I have been arrogant
I have been proud
Thought I knew more
And I shouted it loud.

I have been humbled
Been thought down low
Been forced to admit
That I just did not know.

That time is so short
And all the good that you can do
Will soon be forgotten
Over small miscue.

One small miscue
Emotions ablaze
A burning scar smolders
For the rest of our days.

Yet time is a healer
And experiance may guide
Us back to that place
With eyes opened wide.

A whole new perspective
Unfolds up ahead
And the place once so painful
Turns to wisdom instead.

As wisdom approaches
With grace hand is hand
Forgivness is given
The dead live again.
