The Dream

by AGirlWorthFightingFor   Aug 17, 2006

As I slowly drift asleep in class.
Neon lights & dizzying heights.
Written on the back of a test.
Exams are the least silent places I know.

My walls were closing in - so I took them out!
Make it on my own somehow.
I'm gonna run away & never say goodbye.
I'm gonna leave everything that I know behind.
& start a brand new chapter in my life.
Until all that is familiar becomes as distant as another lie.

Pack your bags & let's get away.
They're catching up to us.
You drive fast, I'll do the drugs.
Settle for a slow down.
But your wheels just turn for the road ahead.

They don't believe in us anymore.
This hurts worse than it did before.
& I'm drowning in Lucy in the Sky delusions.
If you ain't part of the game, how can you bring a solution?

I'm leaving all my resolutions behind.
I'm letting this revolution pass me by.
My reality is lost to "What might have been."
My reality is lost to when things made sense.
Remember when things made sense?
Will things ever make sense again?
Settle for a slow down.
But your wheels just turn for the road ahead.
