Silence

by Tresa Crane   Aug 19, 2006

We lie here in silence, together
But each of us somewhere else
Our hearts close, pounding
But not for one another

We're both pale imitations
Of the other's dream
Little more than adequate
Instruments of catharsis

We drown loneliness and longing
In saliva, sweat and semen
Supplanting cries of desperation
With moans and screams of lust

We never fill the void
But still we try
And while we don't share feelings
We share the silence
