Freedom Isn't Free

by SPC Ecklund   Aug 19, 2006

I signed my life away to the red, white, and blue, to defend our country for me and you.

we fly our flag everyday to show our nation we are here to stay.

I'll do my time and hold my head high and hope that i won't go over seas to die.

i was a soldier longing for home but when i got back every one was long gone.

life changes fast and sometimes you don't even notice it pass and i think of those days I'd sit in class.

my life is not the same for my whole mind set has had to change.

i live by the army values and think about the Soldier's Creed and say to myself i am a soldier.

my training is not quite over but by next year they just might send me over.

i am home now and i deal with the ungrateful people but its okay cuz in the end it won't even matter.

my life will be on the line when i sit in one of those trucks going down a road in Iraq.

i don't want to die for anyone but if its to keep our nation free i will do what is expected of me.
