When I'm Sad...

Sometimes when I'm sad
I crawl into a shell.
I only see the bad
and think life is a living hell.

I can't force a smile,
I can't seem to move.
Nothing is worthwhile
and my life just won't improve.

An empty feeling in my gut,
loneliness wraps around my heart.
The only escape is to cut
and watch my body fall apart.

Happiness floats around
but never visits me.
This sorrow is so profound
inside myself I flee.

Everyone says to be upbeat
and I tell them I'm alright.
I don't let them see my defeat
cause I know I'll cry tonight.
