Sugar Happiness

by Rachel   Aug 20, 2006

Happy
Such a broad word,

A state of being content
Of being joyful,

A sugary-sweet sensation
That leaves you wanting more,

But like sugar it soon dissolves
When the tears from your eyes melt it away,

Suddenly you find yourself empty
The smile on your face is lost,

You again find
That your heart is in pain,

And when you look at the sky
It seems cloudy and bleak,

The birds are not flying
And grey clouds loom overhead,

While you dry your eyes
You wonder where your precious happiness went,

Was it too good to last?

Or was it just a dream?

How short happiness lives
It never has an everlasting effect,

So quickly is it gone
That it leaves you wondering
If it was even real,

Again you trudge away at life
Staring up at the stormy sky
Wishing it to be a blue one,

Hoping for the sweet sugar of happiness
To be sprinkled on your life again.
