So Here's To Yesterday

by Midnight Sun   Aug 22, 2006

When I was just a little girl
Imagining the life that lie ahead
I never thought it to be as it is now
All so confusing, everything so shuffled in my head.

I look back on those simpler days
And crave the innocence of my younger years
When I saw the good in everyone and everything
And the dark was my biggest fear.

So here's to yesterday
When everything was simple and plain
When I could live unafraid
And my mind was free of stain.

So here's to yesterday
When playing house kept me entertained
When I was my own person
And I wasn't influenced by the goal of fame.

So here's to yesterday
When I could close my eyes and dreams would soar
When the days worries had no meaning
And as night came my 'problems' were no more.

If only I lived yesterday when it was today
the way I see it now...
Then maybe today would be more like yesterday
And I could live free of doubt.

5/5 cause its true, childhood is that way and I also wonder what life would be like if I could grow up with all the knowledge I have gained in my life.

Great poem....i was gonna put a four for good, but what got me was the way you really described what childhood was like...fear of the dark, no problems...etc. so great job!
