Haagen Dazs and Fountain Pens

by Twisted Heart   Aug 23, 2006

I sat upon the porch one day
Hoping I'd be inspired
With a notebook on my lap
As the sun beat down like fire.

I heard the music coming close
I knew I was in luck
Around the corner of the street
Came the ice cream truck.

"Oh boy," I said, as I got up
Fishing for some dough
I ran down to the corner
And bought an Ice cream cone.

I sat right on the front steps
Enjoying this tasty treat
But the sun was much too hot
It melted at my feet.

Now on my lap was the paper
And in my other hand
Was a pen that I was using
To write upon the pad.

The ice cream still was melting
And then to my surprise
The pen that I was using
Exploded in my eyes.

With ink dripping down my face
And ice cream on my feet
I was such a hopeless mess
I surrendered to defeat.

I threw the ice cream in the bushes
I tossed the pen and pad
So much for inspiration
After the experience that I had.
