Three

by Marta   Mar 8, 2004

It's my birthday,
I'm as happy as can be.
It's a special day,
Dedicated just for me.
I'm so excited,
I just can't wait,
To make a birthday wish,
On my delicious cake.
As I'm getting ready
I hear a scream in the kitchen
And I peek through the door,
My mommy was crying,
Sobbing on the floor.
My daddy has something importan to say,
As my mommy whispers,
It will be okay.
It had to happen someday,
And it was chosen
On my birthday.
You were hit by a car
And now you're forever gone,
Oh so very, very far.
I quietly sat at the table,
My candles still alight,
I close my eyes,
And make a wish,
That you didn't have to die.
