For Your Memory (Noah Yates)

by JL   Aug 23, 2006

Arms flailing
Gasping to breathe
Kicking and screaming
Scratching the tub
Lungs burning for air

Everything's turning black
As water fills your mouth
Laughter echos through the room
Siblings lay dead,
Scattered like carcasses

Early this morning
You watched her drown them
Trying to stop her
Crying, yelling, hitting
Hoping the neighbors would come
They never came

Running when she came for you
Until you reached a window
Banging your tiny fists, a cry for help
She dragged you downstairs
While you tried to break free

Eyes burned as you were thrown in
Water splashed around
As you fought to stay up;
Fought to live

Floating there-motionless
Preparing to see the others
Wondering how she could do this
-She was your mother

Gosh... This really hit me deep. The cruelness of such insanity really saddens me. It's a sad and tormenting story, which you have told well with incredible power and emotion. Gut wrenching write!
