A Place to Belong

by Katryna   Mar 8, 2004

Thingz were tight,
Way back then
Before your cousin,
Wanted you in.

I thought your were smarter,
I thought your knew what to do,
Why’d you say, “yes”
When they said they wanted you?

You stopped calling
You didn’t have time.
You started dealing,
Nickels and dimes.

Everywhere you went,
You had a yellow rag,
You worn only black and gold,
You let you smile sag.

I told you they were trouble
But you said they were your “boyz”
I told you to get out,
But all you heard wuz noise.

As a “Latin King” you came up to me,
Only wanting a queen.
Did you really think that I’d say “yes”
And put myself in between?

I told you so many times
That what you were wuz wrong
But you were stupid and you thought
You had found a place to belong.

I tried so hard to get you out
I didn’t want you to get hurt
But I guess I didn’t try hard enough
‘cause your lying there in the dirt.

I told your “boys”
That you had died
And I sat there and watched
As they cried.

I thought they were s**t,
But I wuz wrong,
I guess you did find
a place to belong.

RIP all the past “Kings”
