The Blues

by FELTON PHILLIPS   Aug 25, 2006

It can make you cry or laugh out loud
It's really something to make you proud

Bessie Smith and Etta James
Muddy Waters and BB King
Don't tell me there ain't nothing in a name

Bending notes along with your emotions
It can engulf you like a big blue ocean

The Blues were born in the deep old south
Singers baring their souls with their fingers and mouth
Damn them blues is something to shout about

But, it ain't got nothing to do with paying no dues
It's simply all about loving the blues

(This poem is for all my fellow blues fans out there)
