The Mirage

THE MIRAGE

I was a lonely traveller, lost in a stormy sea
With nothing but the thick mist obscuring my way
A tiresome, endless journey among the rough waves
I sighed with an aching heart in the darkness, longing to be belonged and safe.

I saw a speck of light, merging from the mist of despair
Which seemed like a blessing, making me rely
Giving strength like a hand to which I could cling on tight
My heart, too heavy with hope, slowly dragged towards the light
Longing to be belonged, longing to be safe.

I staggered to the icy touch of splashing waves
And to the roar of the mighty wind
Hopelessly searching for that light,
Yet,once again, I was amid the mist, the cruel sea,
Finding my self in reality, convinced my weak heart,
Not to let a mirage play odd tricks upon me again.
