The Silent Scream

by Pain MY Friend   Aug 29, 2006

There she sits, wondering whatever happened to her dreams

The ones where she would conquer the world one day

She may have forgotten them, or so it seems

Maybe all she needs is that one someone who will guide her and show her the way

She knows what is expected of her, her duty to perform

She wears many hats; mother, wife, daughter and friend

But she is tired, her very being screaming for a way to reform

A life, where once a semblance of perfection, now a life not so grand

I see her invisible tears, I hear her silent screams, a good actor she is not

She guards her heart with the tenacity borne out of hurt that still remains

Her heart locked behind a wall so thick, to protect the little girl that she has got

But who has the key, she asks, to save that little girl from an eternity of all the pains

There she is, sitting alone, asking herself over and over again

When will I be free of the hurt, of the pain, of the uncertainty, of the emptiness

She tries, but many of this remain

I see it in her eyes, the doors to her soul, all is left of her is hollowness and sadness

She hides this well, behind a torrent of the daily grind

She tells herself, if I am busy, I don't have to think about it at all

Little does she realize that I am not blind

I see right through her facade, how can I tell her that I will pick her up if she does fall?

This was written after observing someone close to me. I know many can relate to this poem. I appreciate constructive feedback on this piece, thank you.
