The Truth

by Natalie84   Aug 30, 2006

The truth to my life
Is pain and fear
For I cover it all
So to you it's unclear

My cheerful disguise
Is but a dream
The smile you see
Isn't what it seems

Innocence to my soul
Vanished long ago
These eyes have witnessed
What most will never know

Faith and hope
Are unknown to me
As I've believed many years
But have yet to see

Look a little closer
The tears will explain
All truth in the whispers
Of heart ache and pain

Unexpected to me
I've come to accept
That damage won't heal
From these secrets kept

My life is but a nightmare
Now the truth you can see
Though you will never know
The real me
