Body Without Soul

by Twisted Heart   Sep 2, 2006

Here lies this body, without a soul
Death has arrived and left it so cold
It holds not a memory, or essence of life
No hidden secrets or alibis.

Now on the mist of all that she knew
Came a burden of sickness that steadily grew
And though she was saddened, no tears did she cry
For she knew in her heart it was her turn to die.

Above all the pain, she remained strong
within the comfort of her lover's arms
And though they hoped it would all go away
She knew she grew weaker, each passing day

No longer seeking the wonderful bliss
Of her lover's arms or his gentle kiss
Far from the shadows that finally crept
It took her heart that night as she slept.

As the umbers of sunset gave way to the stars
She knew that her soul was alive in his heart
He took it quite gladly, and placed it beside
his loving soul, that very night.

A body's a shell that holds what's entwined
Beneath the skin, and outside the mind
A soul is a whisper that a heart's thinking of
Destined by Fate and Blessed with love.
