My Puppy Ate My Homework

I know this has been said before
But honest, Teach, It's true
I don't think that you'll believe it
But I'd not lie to you.

You see, I got this puppy
He's cute as he can be
But he has a nasty habit
Of eating all he sees.

I worked all afternoon, you know
My homework all was done
So I thought I'd go outside
And have a little fun

I left my homework on the bed
When I went out to play
And my puppy was in my room
And that is where he stayed.

I guess he got a little bored
He climbed up on the bed
There, he spied my homework
And went to work instead.

He pulled the paper from the book
Just so he could see
But it got wet in his mouth
And tore so easily.

When I finally found the pieces
It was so very late
I thought I'd rise this morning
In time to redo the page.

But alas, I tried and failed
Time got away from me
Next thing I knew, I saw
The bus was on our street.

So,Teach, please excuse me
Believe all you have heard
The little puppy at my house
Ate my math homework.
