Ages

by Natalie   Sep 3, 2006

At the age of 5 all a boy was, was someone with cooties.
At the age of 6 all a boy was, was someone to play games with.
At the age of 9 all a boy was, was someone to go to a school dance with.
At the age of 13 all a boy was, was someone to associate with.
At the age of 14 all a boy was, was someone you were in ‘love’ with.
At the age of 15 all a boy was, was someone to break your heart.
At the age of 16 all a boy was, was someone to make you grow up.
At the age of 17 all a boy will be is a man. Not a boy, but a man.

~~~
At the age of 6 a secret kiss under a desk
At the age of 9 hands being held
At the age of 13, boys became IT
At the age of 14 a heart was given away.
At the age of 14 a heart was given back - in pieces
At the age of 15 a heart was again given away
At the age of 15 it was given back, not in pieces but in realisation.
At the age of 16 a heart was unintentionally given away
At the age of 16 this heart was given back, unintentionally hurt and crushed
At the age of 16, grown up inside, still young outside.
At the age of 16, a thought. Nothing was perfect. Nothing lasted forever.
At the age of 17, who knows what 17 will bring? Who knows what life will bring?
