The Desert Of The Mind

by RainbowSlider   Sep 4, 2006

In the arid desert of my mind
is an oasis of another kind.
Where shifting sands blow
a melody for us to follow.
One has to dig to find drink
and on one's knees to sink.
Because the distance is great
to the mirage of the lakes.
So many things seems so real
and one can begin to to feel
the sandy wind as it passes
dunes that are in the masses.
Direction and purpose fades
like intricate brown shades
and sand is like a whirlwind
cast aside by a close friend
down in the depths of despair
through devilish unkempt hair.
As the creatures scurry away
one sees the closing of day
coming down like a big curtain
as darkness covers the terrain.
