Sunset

by Christine   Sep 5, 2006

Deep pink sun in a sensual sky
Slowly sinks a warm goodbye
Casts the world in gold and red
Burnished clouds lie overhead
Tinged with ruby, scarlet hues
Watch the golds slowly diffuse
Into the water, spreading light
Across the surface, sheer delight
Bronze beams bathe the clouds
Shimmering colours, copper shrouds
A crimson orb, majestic sight
Slow descent, graceful flight
Robed with clouds of chardonnay
Announce the ending of the day
Then with Midas touch uncurl
Golden tendrils of light unfurl
And send out pools of liquid gold
Into the water; all eyes behold
As sun and sea merge as one
The beauty fades, the day is done
The last few rays of scarlet beams
Surrender to darkness, the time of dreams...
