Is It So Hard?

by Megan   Sep 6, 2006

Is it so hard these days for a marriage to not be full of lies and deceit?
Is it so hard these days for a marriage to not be full of broken hearts and pain?
What is this world coming down to now,
It's being reduced to nothing more than children in broken homes.
Open, bruised, battered, and broken,
pain filled hearts and cheeks stained with crimson tears.
As scars and wounds inflicted upon their arms and legs,
they become infected with a heart of stone and an emotionless soul.

Depression and anger become two main qualities,
and twisted thoughts of suicide become more common than before.
Often they're caught crying and their obviously in pain,
grieving over their parents broken vows.
I could walk on past and not acknowledge their presence,
or I could stay with them and relate to their troubles.
Unfortunately I can relate to their painful experiences,
and I know how it feels to have arguing parents.

It's hard to just stand back and watch as the two people that created you,
are viciously battling each other in a battle of wits and strength.
Who said what and did what,
who's telling the truth and who's lying now?
Momma please don't cry it'll be alright some day,
Daddy please don't do this to her.
Both of them will scream and argue,
fight and yell.
None of this solves anything,
only makes it worse.
The shame of it all is that the children can only sit and watch,
nothing they say or do can stop this madness.

Only their cries and screeches at their parents can be heard,
but to their fighting parents only a muffled sound can be heard.
Some day it may be alright,
and some day may never come.
Sometime it's hard to keep your head up and hard to move on,
but it's going to hurt worse to remember than to forget.

It's not an easy battle,
and it's not one a person wants to fight.
It's not a thing that someone even wants to think about,
let alone want to talk about it.
Everyone must do what they can,
to save these innocent hearts while there's still a chance.
Just remember that there may be a child like this near you;
And the scary thing is that you won't know who.
It could be your best friend,
or that shy kid in your class.
But if you know who it is,
offer them a hand.
Show them love and comfort,
let them into your home and give them a safe environment.
Because you never know when you could save someone's life or not.
And so with this I ask,
is it so hard for a marriage not to be filled with all of the pain and heart break,
that it is inevitably filled with these days?
