Sometimes He Says No

One day I prayed that God would send
Someone for me to love
But what he gave to me that day
Was something I wasn't thinking of.
He made me think I loved a man
Who took away my heart
And left the shattered pieces
Like a mosaic piece of art.
Nine months to the day I prayed
He gave me such a joy
When In loneliness I gave
Birth to my little boy.
Sweet Child of mine, He was a dear
Quite a handful too, at times
But love him, yes, with all my heart
How could I have been so blind.
So maybe I must rethink the prayer
That I said to God so strong
He gave me someone to love today
And he fits so good in my arms.

My mother always told me
That in prayer, God hears our need
He may not give us answers
That we think we seek
But have faith and he will fill
Our lives with so much joy
God did for me what was his will
And sent me my baby boy.
