Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe

A sad little girl in a world all alone,
a decent life she was never shown.
An absent father and a lost mother,
and no one in the world to love her.

"and one of these days", she said,
"my name will be in lights above my head.
And all the world will know me,
and all the world will love me."

So Marilyn Monroe she became,
just one more step closer to fame.
And in time a star she would be,
a legend for the world to see.

Her career took off like a fire,
fueled by her everlasting desire.
Many movie screens were graced
with her soft, beautiful face.

But what others didn't know
hopes and dreams she never did show.
Her wish to raise a family,
and to live ever after happily.

But one cold, dark night,
this shining star lost her light.
Her life ended, a great loss for sure,
and so the world spins on without her...
