A Childisih Glimmer

by *Charisma*   Sep 11, 2006

It's been awhile since we've been kids
Isn't it funny how time flies?
Neither of us are still the same
There's a new age in our eyes

Never thought I'd be here
Really make it all this way
Yet here I am and so are you
Both standing here today

I look back upon these years
When Barbie dolls consumed my hours
Riding bikes and climbing trees
Bringing mother home some flowers

I never had to worry
Bills and taxes were just big words
What I'd wear to school that day
Was really my only concern

Time was an ongoing number
That spinned the hands around
Whether it moved fast or slow
We thought plenty could be found

And when our moms picked us up
We begged for just ten minutes more
Then came the plea to spend the night
That we'd rehearsed so much before

I miss the innocence of youth
The unadulterated joy we had
It was like the world didn't exist
When we played and when we laughed

But here we stand with added years
And taller than ever we rise
But I can still look at you and see
A childish glimmer in your eyes

I really loved the line about bills and taxes just being big words...I think that makes A LOT of sense....I actually like your poem about childhood better than my own! Great job....and cool phrases...keep it up! 5/5
