Toilet Surprise

I went to flush the toilet
And it bubbled up on me
I was quite flabbergasted
And an ugly sight to see

I wondered why this happened
And tried to free the drain
But nothing seemed to work
And it was driving me insane

I peeked around the corner
And there sat my little boy
He couldn't look me in the eye
As he fumbled with his toy

I bent down to match his level
And ask why it wouldn't go down
His frightened eyes danced
And flitted all around

He told me it was an accident
He didn't mean to do it
The dog had tripped him and it dropped
As he flushed the toilet

So I asked what it was
That fell as he flushed it down
But the list was much longer
This I had quickly found

It started with a pencil
He'd used to draw on the wall
Then a Hot Wheels car
And a fifty cent bouncy ball

But when he went to grab them
A lego fell from his pocket
Then out of his other hand
Fell his small toy rocket

And as he told me all these things
I felt my temperature rise
But I couldn't be all that angry
When I saw the worry in his eyes

So I told him to go to his room
And think about what he'd done
Still I'm stuck with this toilet
Clogged with toys from my son.
