How Many Times?

How many goodbyes does it take to break a heart?
How many lost loves can fully tear someone apart?
How many tears must one cry for a lake?
How many lies will it take til I break?

How many days til I fall in love?
How many lovers til I've had enough?
How many 'I love you's til it means nothing at all?
How many steps til I finally fall?

How many nights until I can just sleep?
How many years until someone loves me?
How many memories will help me to forget?
How many words will it take to regret?

How many lovers until I realize
that you can't look love right into its eyes?
And as such, it always will pass me on by...
Please, can you tell me just how many times?
