Paper Words

I've got no one to talk to
Just this paper and a pen
Only me to read my thoughts
The loneliness sinks in

I realize the world around me
Is filled with people to engage
But here I sit at this table
Jotting thoughts upon a page

I write of my emptiness
The hole that grows large inside
But to nervous to open up
Life's a one person ride

If just someone would approach me
And start with a few words
The ice would begin to thaw
I'd let myself be heard

But I'm not one to take a chance
On someone I don't know
I'll stick to this pad of paper
And write what I can't show
