Game

by Deana   Sep 15, 2006

Body language, speaking silently
But loudly to the one who observes
Saying things the lips choose not to speak
Or cannot find the words

The young man steps closer
Into her undefined circle of intimacy
Where we accept or reject
He leans a little closer to see
If her body says we connect.

To a person such as I
Who analyzes, sorts and studies human nature
Reading ones around me
Comes to be a pleasure

I sit at a distance, and read their gestures
While he plays with her emotions
A touch of the arm, a brush of the hand
Giving the other notions

They play with fire,unknowingly
This game that people play
It seems just innocent fun
Til someones heart gets in the way.

When the heart says one thing
But the body says another
Confusion,insecurity and doubt
Enter the heart of the lover.

What to him was just having fun
Leaves her heart in pain
She believed he cared for her
He was just running game.
