A Father's Love

by Dakota Nessmith   Sep 15, 2006

From the day you were born
you have been the apple of His eye.
As He held you in His arms
He knew that this love could never be torn.

When you scratched your knee or bumped your head,
He was there
When you fell in love and fell out,
He was there by your side right by your bed.

He showed you how to live,
He showed you how to learn,
But most of all you realized
that it was His love that you would yearn.

He stood by your side when you were down,
and supported you all the while,
He lifted you up when you were weak,
and made you smile when you would frown.

You wondered off track and went astray,
you discovered what He taught was true,
He brought you back to where it all began,
and you thank Him and long to see His face one sweet day.
